Broadway Jackson Interchange, Oakland, California- The ever-increasing traffic along the segment of the I-880 freeway in the downtown Oakland area and the planned development projects in the cities of Alameda and Oakland have resulted in a transportation deficiency. This created a need to reconfigure the I-880/Broadway Jackson Interchange to provide access and operational improvements between I-880, I-980, and local Oakland streets including access to and from the Posey/Webster Tubes which connect Oakland and the City of Alameda.
The proposed Interchange design and improvements will be developed utilizing a community-drive approach with significant participation from community stakeholders. The work will include urban planning and incorporate Complete Street design concepts in a way that is respectful of the community's aspirations and needs.
Downtown Oakland Circulation Study, Oakland, California- Downtown Oakland is made up of many distinct communities that have strong local character and identity, including Chinatown, Jack London District, and Old Oakland. For purposes of this project, a small portion of West Oakland is also included within the study area. Each of these areas currently experiences safety, congestion, and access challenges, both within and between each area, which affect the quality of life for local residents and businesses. For major business districts such as Chinatown, delivery of goods and parking also present obstacles to economic sustainability and growth.
The project is intended to address current and future transportation needs in anticipation for development efferts within the cities of Oakland and Alameda. The study will evaluate vehicular traffic impacts on pedestrian and bicyclist safety and air pollution. There are various ongoing and future planned developments which will impact the existing roadway netwrok with additional travel needs.
The outcome of the project is the development of a Program Implementation Plan that indlucdes a set of proposed trasportation projects to provide improved circulation, safety, access and mobility for residents and businesses in the Study Area. BayPac staff provides a key role in developing project strategy and solutions.
Oakland Airport Parking Lot Reconfiguration, Oakland, California- Oakland International Airport is reconfiguring its parking layout to better serve passengers and staff, and to increase the potential of generating additional parking revenue. BayPac staff has developed alternate parking layout concepts which exceed the Port's requirements while keeping the cost within budget.
Oakland Airport Super Bowl 75 Traffic Management Plan, Oakland, California- Oakland International Airport developed plans to service 750 corporate jets during the 2016 Super Bowl 75 weekend. These jets range in size with some as big as a Boeing 767. It was necessary to develop a Traffic Management Plan (TMP) to handle the ground traffic that would be generated in a way that meets TSA security requirements and provides a positive passenger experience. BayPac worked with staff of the Port, fixed based operators and the Super Bowl organizing committee to develop the comprehensive TMP. The TMP includes developing specific travel routes, signal system re-timing, web, paper, and sign-based notifications, and the use of technologies in matching passengers with limousines.
